The band strums the final note on their guitar and the preacher steps up to the podium to start their sermon. They share stories about their life how God has done great things in their lives. They share about their time they flew to Africa and see’s a man blind and sick on the floor. He share’s how he was prompted by the holy spirit to go over and pray for that man, and he does.
He goes on explaining how the man was completely healed and gives his life to the Lord.
There’s a little boy in the congregation, loving the story and wishing he could be grown up and be like that man up the front sharing stories about how he’s brought the hope of Christ to people around the world, and seen miracles done, but then realises he a young little boy and that just wouldnt happen in his life.

That was me once…
(it may not have been exactly like that but you get what i mean.)

I was brought up in a Christian family, and went to church every week. And when I did finally start paying attention to the songs being sung and what was being said instead of drawing random cartoons, I started to wish my life was like that. But then my life was filled with doubt.
‘I’m your average teenager in school, brought up in an average family who cant splash out cash on sending me to Africa to go and pray for a man who needs healing and needs to know Jesus.’ – thats what I was thinking… Well maybe not exactly that, but it was something along those lines.

I started telling myself why would God want to use me to do things like that… Now before I go on I just want to say I havent been to africa and prayed with a blind and sick man for healing, but oh how I’d love to!
However I do now know that God does want to use me to do amazing work, and he wants to use you aswell.

Just over 2 years ago I did not know I would be working on a small team at UCB (United Christian Broadcasters) traveling around Europe creating videos and other programmes to spread the Gospel to children and youth… WOW…
God has blessed me so much…

Everytime I think about this I always remember this one verse thats stuck with me, which was the turning point on the way I thought about how God wants to use me.

“For you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own special people. That you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9

For you are a chosen generation… You!

Just because you’re not old(er), no offense to the older generation of the church, and standing at the front of the church preaching doesnt mean you cant do God’s glorious work!
You see, God made us all unique! For me, He gave me skills in film making and video editing and so I’ve decided to use those skills to spread the Gospel.
You dont have to be a preacher to spread his word, to do His mighty work.
If you sing, sing His praises, or play an instrument – join the worship band at church.
Love children? Help out in Sunday school groups.
Enjoy helping people, see that man on the street begging, go and buy him a coffee and a sandwich and just show that you care.
See that lady on the bus… Tell them about Jesus…

Now thats a story to share, but I’ll save it for another time!

All I’m saying is use your talents and skills that God gifted you with, He gifted them so you could use them to praise and glorify Him!

Yeah this may mean leaving your comfy little lives, but you know what uncomfortable people can change the world.

Back in 2012, just before new years, I asked God for 2013 to be an uncomfortable year, and you know what, He answered that prayer! That year I moved away from my family for the first time and set out to work at UCB and do what I was called to do, cause you know what, we’re all called to go out and spread the Gospel. We may all do it slightly differently but, thats what we’re called to do.

Jesus said to his disciples ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature’
And He calls us to do that too.
So you may be sitting there now thinking about your life. Are you doing what your called to do? Are you spreading the Gospel to those who need it?
Now dont be sitting there thinking – Oh im too young, this isnt for me. No your wrong. This is for you! However young or old you are… He called you personally!

I challenge you this week to sit down and work out what one of your gifts are and then you should set about using that gift to be Jesus’ hands and feet, because once you do you’ll not only witness amazing things, but you’ll also be that oh so much closer to God Himself.

P.S. This video here of Lauren Barlow from BarlowGirl was what changed my view on God and what He has called on my life…
